The department of Surgical Oncology is the largest department in clinical services in MCC.  The department offers surgical service in almost all types of solid tumors. It offers various academic courses as mentioned below.

Surgical oncology deals with work up of the majority of the solid tumors registered in MCC. This includes new case clerking, clinical assessment, and coordination of imaging, biopsy and lab evaluations of all cancers except lung and chest wall tumors.

The department has grown further in the current year. Additional staff that joined the department in the last year were Dr. Rajesh Krishna.P., Assistant Professor, Dr.Bonny A.Joseph, Assistant Professor, Dr.Hridya H.,Assistant Professor and Dr  Prasanth P., ad hoc assistant Professor. Infrastructural improvements were done in the department for doing advanced surgeries.

The service was extended to Neurosurgery and Ocular oncology from last year. The department has taken the lead in digitizing medical records in MCC. Currently all cases are documented online and the department is ready to proceed further as the rest of the departments and services catch up with this development.
Currently we have three operation theaters and a brachy procedure room. The creation of a fourth OT and expansion of the recovery room and ICU and endoscopy rooms are going on. The new OT is designed as robotic OT and the steps to procure a surgical robot are in process.
