Transfusion Medicine and Blood Bank at MCC is one of the modern blood centers in Kerala. The centre provides clinical services to support patients in need of blood components, aphaeresis components, stem cell collection, therapeutic aphaeresis, irradiation of blood and specialized laboratory diagnostics.
The blood centre aims is to provide safe and effective blood components to meet the patients need. The blood centre also caters to outside hospital patients in and around Thalassery & Kannur.
From 2010, the centre had achieved 100% issue of blood components. From 2018, blood components are tested for Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) to prevent transfusion-transmitted infections.
The division organizes blood donation camps to meet the demands of the hospital.
